Your application has to be made online. Please note that the application and all respective documents must be in English.

Throughout the application forms the fields that have to be filled in are marked with an*. Please note that applications not containing this essential information will not be considered.

Application procedure

  1. The application is password protected, therefore please click on 'Register for Application'.  
  2. By filling in the form you state your contact details, agree to the terms of use. This generates an application account which gives you access to the full application form using a login name and password.  
  3. A unique identifier number will be assigned to your application and you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
  4. In Part I of the application form you state the details on the research project, host institution, budgets as well as personal information (e.g. postgraduate degree).
  5. Part II of the application form provides you with an Upload Manager. Specific additional documents like Curriculum Vitae, publication list, research plan, research abstract, literature references, can be uploaded (Word Office files and PDF are accepted).

    You can
    log into the application form and add or edit information as often as you like.
     
  6. When the application is complete you submit it by pressing the 'final submit' button of the last page of the form. This will terminate your editing option and turns to the view option of the complete application. If in exceptional cases further changes are necessary this can be done via e-mail.

Instructions Part I

  • Details of research project
    Please indicate the research domain your project covers, from the list provided. In the following text field you should provide a short title for your research project. The research abstract , a concise statement on the background, objectives, research plan/strategy, methods, statistical considerations, and a list of references restricted to no more than five key publications, is to be added in Part II of the application (Upload Manager). Recommendation: The entire application should not be more than 4-5 pages in length (excluding Curriculum vitae and list of publications).
  • Personal Information
    The aim of E-G-G is to support young scientists and is limited to applicants not born before January 1st, 1980.
    Please indicate your year of birth and the details of your PhD, M.D. or similar postgraduate degree in the respective fields of this page.
    In addition you should provide a brief CV or biosketch with information on your academic education, professional career, your personal status and an indication of your career objectives to date, and finally you should provide a list of your publications (see Part II, Upload Manager).
  • Host Information
    You will also need to provide details of the research institution where your project will take place including the name and contact information of the administrative official of the institution who will be responsible for overseeing the project (Head of Research and Development Office, Department Head etc). He/she will need to confirm that your application to E-G-G is approved by the Institution. If desired, a recommendation letter(s) in support of your application can be sent by e-mail or fax to the E-G-G secretariat. This is not required. Please note that the E-G-G can only support research projects conducted at appropriate institutions in EFIC
    ® member states.
  • Budget
    On the Budget page you should indicate the total budget of your research project with a rough breakdown into salaries, supplies, services, equipment purchase and travel. There are no priori restrictions, but you will need to provide a brief justification of items that are not self-explanatory. In general, E-G-G sponsored projects are self-contained, and can be carried out with a total budget of up to €40,000 in the event of special merit. E-G-G will consider contributing to costs of a larger project, but this needs to be explained and justified, and in any event the E-G-G sponsored segment needs to be a recognizable module within the larger project.

 

Instructions Part II

Upload Manager

With Part II of the application you are provided with an Upload Managing Tool. Specific additional documents like your brief Curriculum Vitae, publication list, research plan, research abstract, literature references, can simply be uploaded (Word Office files and PDF are accepted).

The research abstract, a concise statement on the background, objectives, research plan/strategy, methods, statistical considerations should not be longer than 150 words, and a list of references should be restricted to no more than five key publications.

As soon as your application is in edit option, any uploads can be deleted and/or updated. Please consider that with regard to the complex review process the entire application should not be more than 4-5 pages in length, plus Curriculum vitae and list of publications. As soon as the application is complete you submit it by pressing the 'final submit' button of the last page of the form. This will turn your editing option into view option of the complete application.

If in exceptional cases further changes are necessary this can be done via e-mail.
